Costume Planning
All of the costumes are ready to go for shooting starting tomorrow. I've uploaded some pictures of Alexandra's clothing. It's a little more fancy than my initial plans but seeing as everything is taking place in Alexandra's mind why wouldn't she imagine herself like this. I'll be updating the ablum with photos of other characters tomorrow.

The Final Script
I have made some amendmants to the script to make it a) a little shorter, b) a little easier to follow and c) a little better.
Also just a quick mention about the addtion of the "dark smoke". It is within my ability, thanks to an awesome plug-in for After Effects, and please check out the video in the link below and comment on what you think about the special effect. Cheers!

Location Scouting
Annesley Gardens - The Garden
An Old House in Castlewellan - The Old Room
I am extremely happy with the garden location, it is better than I even remember and will hopefully create an authentic 19th century feel and have a dream-like quality when I experiment with the cinematography.
As for the old room I will continue looking for other options. It may still work (or have to) but I have a different creative intention for the 'real world' room; one that is much darker and sterile.

The Treatment
Title:
Consciousness
The Last and Lasting Memories of Alexandra Morgan
Duration:
6-7 minutes
Main Characters:
Alexandra Morgan: A young girl around 17 - 18. Orphaned at a young age, she has a lot of strength in character. She is adventurous but not fearless, as we discover in her journey. Her strength and mind are pushed to their limits.
Lizzy and Georgy Morgan: Alexandra’s sisters aged anywhere from 11 – 16. They are still children at heart and enjoy childish games. They have been cared for by Alexandra since they were orphaned and are very reliant on her. They are both memories and ‘ghosts’. As ‘ghosts’ they have gained knowledge, this knowledge reverses their relationship with Alexandra, as Lizzy and Georgy must help Alexandra in her journey.
Dr. Pierce Andrews: A man is his 50s to 60s. After years of living on their own, Dr. Andrews gave the Morgan family a home and looked after them. Despite his kindness he is driven by obsession; an obsession with death and the afterlife. He has carried out many experiments throughout the years but his latest has provoked his obsession and changed him dramatically.
Dr. Reynolds and Dr. Wagner: The two assistants in Dr. Andrew’s latest experiment. Both in their 30s to 40s, Reynolds is female and Wagner male. They are cold and calculating.
Synopsis:
Loosely based on the short story, The Facts in The Case of M. Validemar, by Edgar Allen Poe, in which a man is hypnotised on his deathbed to explore his dying mind.
Set in 1850 – 1900.
We explore the mind of Alexandra Morgan as she is hypnotised. As she delves deeper into her mind, she starts to discover the reason she is trapped in this world. As we inter-cut with the real world we begin to discover the dark reasons behind her hypnosis.
Soundtrack/ Score:
Orchestral, when possible. Michael Giacchino style violins and percussion. Conjures up the ‘feeling’ of the age, 1850 – 1900s, but slightly disturbing.
Creative Intention:
Similar tone and mood to Pan’s Labyrinth, Sleepy Hollow and The Orphanage. Highly stylised cinematography featuring some Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind type exploration of the mind and memories. Also will feature the juxtaposing of two contrasting visual styles between the real world and Alexandra’s mind.
SFX:
Some visual effects will be employed for the expressionistic Eternal Sunshine style sequences.
